I like the observations/reflections you have made regarding both the natural and the symbolic use of water. As water is essential to all of life so God is the source of life and Jesus is Life. There is no life outside of Jesus Christ according to the Holy Bible.
I have been meditating on Genesis 2:4-6 with an emphasis on verse 2:6 specifically:
4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,
5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.
6 But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.
Simply stated, when I read Genesis 2:6 about the midst that went up from the earth and watered the whole face of the earth I think about Jesus Christ when He says, where two or three are gathered together in my name there I am in the midst.
Note, that in the New Testament, the word “midst” appears in Matt 18:20 where Jesus says, “Jesus, “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”
Although there was no human being in the garden in the beginning, the presence of God was always there. God’s presence and power orchestrated all the activity that was taking place in the earth realm in the beginning.
God Himself, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit were present in the garden to witness the great work of God. We know that God is One, even according to 1 John 5:7, “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one”.
I believe that the midst that went up from the garden in the beginning can signify Jesus Christ in that this midst watered the entire earth. Jesus came for all of humankind. Jesus, like the midst in the garden, touches all of humanity. As water of the midst refreshes, sustains, nourishes that which it comes in contact with, so Jesus refreshes, sustains, nourishes, cleanses, heals all He comes in contact with. Jesus is the living water.
Like the midst comes from the earth and goes straight up to water the earth, so Jesus was lifted up from the earth. Jesus came out of the earth (from the grave) and rose up with all power. Remember the words Jesus said about being “lifted up” in John 12:32: 32 “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.”
Genesis 1:6 says, “And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.” Like the firmament was in the midst of the waters, so is Jesus. Jesus is also our “go-between”. He is our intercessor according to 1 Tim 2:5, “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;”.
