The hei represents hearing but not understanding. There is a positive an negative aspect to it. On the negative side it represents those who don't understand. They are also represented by the blind. On the positive side it means they hear but don't understand like the sheep hearing the voice of the shepherd without understanding the words. They are drawn to his voice.

When added to the end of father, the word means desire abeh אבה. The sheep desire to be with the father.

Abeh can also be read as ah אה with the revelation of God to man, the bet ב, in the heart. ah אה means to yearn. It is a similar meaning as abeh אבה; yearning to hear the word, or drawn to the Father.
