Mt 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

The Greek word jot comes from the Hebrew letter yod י. It is the smallest letter. It would properly be represented by the smallest dot conceivable. However no one would see it.

The Greek word tittle keraia κεραία means horn. Rabbis comment that the vav looks like a horn. And horns are used as noise makers to get attention for a proclamation.

Contrary to popular belief, ‘jot or tittle’ is not a redundancy to say the smallest thing. It means everything from the smallest idea to the loudest proclamation. Effectively nothing will pass away until all is fulfilled.

Another consideration is the formation of letters.

When drawing any letter, a yod is first formed. Every letter proceeds from the yod. Every word is formed from letters, and everything was created with words. All of the letters are formed with yods and vavs. The yod contains everything that God wanted to say and do. The vav clarifies the singularity into everything else that exists.

Letters are formed within a square template. The strokes of the vavs can join at right angles or with curves. The top horizontal represents heavenly things, the lower, earthly things. The right vertical descends and the left ascends.

A right angle is a lessor transfer than a curve. The dalet ד, with a right angle, is the command or teaching. The resh ר is a revelation with personality. The bet ב is a revelation to man. The kaf כ is the revelation who has become man.

Most people don’t want or need to learn Hebrew, but should recognize that the meaning assigned to letters are not the result of free-for-all allegory, but are based in the meaning of the strokes within the letters.

Though it is boring to most, it reveals that Jesus and Paul were familiar with the meaning of the strokes.
