New page

Garments of deceit

There are several words used for generic 'garments'. One is used for the clothing of the priests called beged בגד or garments of deceit. They were costumes to show that they were playing a role as a type of Christ. Beged means 'revelation to man ב that God pursued them ג with the commandment ד'. The drama performed by the priests taught them about God through his law.

:The sacrifices did not give grace; but a promise of grace through the cross.

The sacrifices were a promise of grace, which could not be given until after the instrument of grace was in effect. Only a provisional grace could be given until Christ rose from the dead. Sacrifices never gave grace in the past, and no future sacrifices can be made. Jesus finished the work.
