⚫ 2Ti 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
"Rightly dividing the word of truth" means to understand each layer of scripture, avoiding free-for-all allegory, and determining it's meaning from scripture itself.
We do not study scripture to gain approval with God; we gained that through the cross. It is to separate us from the false or lazy teachers.
