6. I am not sure how this was derived from the text.
=p5=
A proper understanding of the "Law of Recurrence" is that the story of Christ and the cross is recapitulated many times in many ways, and so pericopes sometimes look like each other because they contain similar details to other sections which tell the same story.
=II.A.=
As mentioned previously, v5 belongs to the first pericope. Theology produced by having it at the beginning of the second is in error.
He contradicts himself saying that there were no plants because there had been no rain, but yet it was a mist that made plants able to grow. Could plants grow or not? And what about the four rivers? This is all just a distraction from Christ.
In the first pericope, the dry land was separated from the waters. Literally this would cause a high humidity as the land dried, forming a mist from the ground, now mentioned.
But the purpose of verse 6 is to speak of the Eternal Word generating life and revealing himself through general revelation. This is recapitulated as Christ walks in the flesh and starts to gather his sheep from the dry ground -- the world which does not have the Word. It is also part of the parable of the sower when the seed is by the path.
