Vowels are the letters which are pronounced with the plain, uninterrupted voice and are considered the essential origins of Hebrew. Those who say that Hebrew has no vowels are in error. The letters aleph, hei, vav, and yud are vowels, and the names of God composed solely of these letters are considered his essential names.
