Every shadow or doctrine must have at least two supporting scripture witnesses.

This means we cannot define a shadow (metaphor) or doctrine with a single verse. (This keeps us rigorous in methodology).

The principle of witnesses is that concerning things of life and death, every testimony must be established. Certainly the things of the gospel concern life and death:

Mt 18:16 But if he will not hear [thee, then] take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.
2Co 13:1 ¶ This [is] the third [time] I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.
