False religions each have a false notion of the nature of man. There are two basic ideas: Man is equal to God or can be, or man is just an animal. Many Christian churches teach a subset of the first: Man is 'almost' equal to God, being made in his image.

Relationships built on false pretenses fall apart when the truth is known. There can be no lasting communion with God if the nature of our relationship is not understood.
