Thank you for your analysis of Genesis regarding the firmament. Trying to understand the meaning of the word "firmament" better. I looked up Strongs using the blueletterbible.org tool and it said the following:
- extended surface (solid), expanse, firmament
- expanse (flat as base, support)
- firmament (of vault of heaven supporting waters above)
- considered by Hebrews as solid and supporting 'waters' above
Trying to understand better the part about "emptying" in your analysis. I believe strongly in the NT quotations regarding the kenosis and I just want to see how the link is made back to Genesis and the incarnation. Very interesting, thanks for your patience in this matter!

I am delighted to have your question!
The word firmament רקיע is divided into it's sub roots רק-יע.
- רק - empty H7386
- יע - his flesh (The subroot is not used alone as a word in the scripture, so you will not find it in Strong's)
You can see the metaphor of the ayin played out in ברע as 'in ב the revelation ר of flesh ע', 'in ב evil רע', or 'son בר of evil/flesh ע'.
From the word firmament, we get that it is empty flesh as a foreshadowing of his kenosis.
