Riddles from the east

The Hebrew word for 'east' also means 'ancient'. When the wise men saw a star in the east, they saw a star in the ancient Hebrew texts. [1] [2]

Even if they had seen a physical star in the east, it would have no meaning without the ancient text. They understood some of the riddles of the Old Testament.
Paul preached from the same ancient riddles as he taught the 'new thing'.
  1. Mt 2:2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
  2. [[Nu 24:17 I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth.
