Chapter 1.1.14 Hei ה

Primary metaphor

The hei ה represents the spoken work of God which is heard but not understood. It is the same as 'the blind' since 'seeing' is a metaphor for understanding. The sheep hear but do not understand. [1]

The first hei is in Elohim אלהים

Elohim is translated as 'God'. One of the embedded meanings is 'God el אל separated from his people im ים [2] by their blindness ה'. His people do not understand him. His sheep hear his voice but don't understand the words which are taught.

Hei as the

Ge 1:1 ¶ In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Hei is used as a prefix meaning 'the' but it still retains it's meaning as hearing but notunderstanding or blind.

The heavens את השמים and the earth את הארץ can be read as all that is את blind ה in heaven and all that is את blind ה in earth.
