Rulers called liars

John the Baptist was the cousin of Jesus and had an instinctive spirit-led connection to Jesus. [1] [2] When the religious rulers approached him to be baptized, he called them liars. [3] [4] His knowledge of their character was not given to him in a vacuum. He was raised among them. Their hypocrisy betrayed them. Their teaching did not ring true. Whatever Jesus taught in the temple eighteen years prior, had been perverted. Their teaching did not reflect the teaching of Jesus.
