The yud represents the first and complete thought that God had to create. It oozes from the blank page which represents God. Consider:
-Every letter is drawn by first drawing a yud. -Every word is made of letters derived from the yud. -Everything that was created was spoken into existence using words. -Every thought is expressed in words.
The essence of everything that is created is contained in the infinitesimally small yud. It is like the hypothetical Big Bang of science, but it includes personality. Creation is the testimony of God.
- Ps 19:1 ¶ « To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. » The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.
As a metaphor it represents God who thought the thought of creation. It represents the thought itself or the result of the thought.
The yud is known as the jot in Greek. Jesus said that not the tiniest part of any letter of the law would disappear before it was fulfilled. And since the tiniest part, the yud, represents all of creation, the meaning is that not one thing from the tiniest part to the whole will disappear before it is fulfilled.
The name of the letter, yud יד, means hand. The hand represents works. Creation is the work of God. The right hand represents his spiritual works, and the left hand represents his physical works.
The idea that words are formed from the meaning of the letters is foreign to those who think like Greeks (most of us). But his name yahweh has the dictionary meaning of "I am"
Yahweh יהוה is yah י , God, the creator (yud) י - of calamity (evil) havvah הוה
- Isaiah 45:7 says: '...I make peace, and create evil [calamity]: I the LORD [Yahweh] do all these things.'
He created the system where you reap what you sow.
- Job 4:8 Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same.
He created the system that brings to fruit the calamity that we sow by plowing in sin. And this system is good, even though we choose calamity. Suffering is a schoolmaster of the flesh to drive us back to God.
"It is not supposed to be this way" is the cry of reaping our own harvest, and acknowledging that God's harvest is better.
