The name of the letter pe means ''eye'' and ''answer''. Seeing is a metaphor for understanding. The literal historical record is only part of what is being said in scripture. True understanding comes from the wisdom of God expressed in allegory, parables, riddles, types, shadows and the mystery, which all speak of Christ.
Observe two words for mouth: peh פה and pum פם. The first is the mystery which is not understood. The second is the mystery being fulfilled.
