Judah is NOT the literal second son

Judah ('יהודה God יהוה with a declaration ד in him ' or 'praised') is not a literal second son. He is the fourth son of Jacob and Leah, after Reuben ('see ראו a son בן' ), Simeon ('hear שמ depravity עון'), and Levi ('teach ל the clarified ו creation י').

Judah the riddle second son

As the fourth son, God plays riddles to make him the second son. Levi was not to be numbered as one of the tribes. [1] And Simeon and Levi would be dispersed. [2]

  1. Nu 2:33 But the Levites were not numbered among the children of Israel; as the LORD commanded Moses.
  2. Ge 49:5 ¶ Simeon and Levi [are] brethren; instruments of cruelty [are in] their habitations. Ge 49:6 O my soul, come not thou into their secret; unto their assembly, mine honour, be not thou united: for in their anger they slew a man, and in their selfwill they digged down a wall. {digged … : or, houghed oxen} Ge 49:7 Cursed [be] their anger, for [it was] fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.
