4 - Four voices
In the revelation of God's word, he uses four roles or voices. The church has a faint memory of this, though the memory is far from perfect. The Catholic church refers to the Quadriga. To the Rabbis iא is Pardes. Neither is sufficient to describe the four voices of God.
The four voices can be seen in all things which come in clusters of four. They are prophet, judge, priest, and king.
The presumption is that the voices can be heard in every scripture. Proving that out would take more than a lifetime. I focus on the voice of the prophet.
The voice of the king is the literal meaning that has been studied for 2000 years. I will rarely deal with it except to make corrections to literal understandings by the voice of the prophet. This isn't magic. It follows the same rules. From the voice of the king we learn about the flesh and why and how we disciple it. This is training in righteousness.
The other three voices are hidden in the mystery. The differ in scope of application.
The voice of the prophet speaks about Christ in the flesh and the cross. This is doctrine.
The voice of the judge speaks of God's opinion about literal things. Theologians comment that the Bible contains histories with no mention if the actions were good or bad. But they are mistaken. Hidden withing the same verses, in the mystery, is a commentary on what God thought about it. This is rebuke.
The voice of the priest tells how Christ, as our high priest in the eternities, made thing right. This is correction.
