The Creation Story

Ge 1:1 - Ge 2:5

Look around. You see two kinds of things. You see things that have been made by people, and things that are just there. Buildings, roads, tables, bathtubs, are all made by someone. Trees, weeds, stars, bugs, dogs, and clouds are just there. But how did they get there. You can easily tell which are which. Just like you can tell light from dark, you can tell which things are made by men, and which things aren't.

When you think about it, all the things made by people are made from things that aren't made by people.

A book, which is made by people is made from paper and ink. Both of those are made by people. But paper is made from trees. Trees aren't made by people. Ink is made from oil which comes out of the ground, and is not made by people.

Where do all these things not made by people come from? The Revelation to Man says that God made them all. God made a lot of things which we can use to make other things. But he didn't just make stuff for us to use. He made them to tell us about himself.

He made the light to tell us that He is Holy; separated, different, from everything that was created. He kept the darkness, as a covering and symbol of his love that shields us from the burning rays of justice.

He divided the waters to say that his word for us would tell of his Holiness and his Love.

He separated the dry ground from the waters to say that according to his word, the Son would be made to be a man.

From the light he made the sun, moon and stars, telling us that we would be with Christ and teach his holiness.
