Primary metaphor
Discerning the meaning of this letter is a bit more difficult since the gimel is the only letter with the lower diagonal stroke. Other letter which have Y's in them represent a joining of holiness and love, whereas this one in inverted. Using that principle the first thing coming from heaven was split into holiness and grace. The holiness hits the point of the cross and is satisfied. The diagonal hits the baseline of the Square Text Template somewhere in the middle.
This structure is suggestive that that first creative word did the work, and somewhere in the middle of mankind, perhaps in numbers , perhaps in time, he poured out his love. Traditionally, the gimel has meant a rich man chasing after a poor man. This is interesting as the word gimel means camel. And when a rich man chased Jesus, the poor man, Jesus made a riddle of a camel. [1]
Experimentally, pursue appears to work well. God satisfied his own holiness and pursued man with his love.
Gimel as pursuit
gadowl גדל
great. The first occurrence of a gimel in scripture is in Ge 1:16 in the word great. [2] By the letters it means he pursued man ג with his teaching/command ד taught ל. <
Breaking it down displays the embedded metaphor:
gad גד
troop and coriander. It might seem impossible for two words to be so different yet be identical in form, but not when talking of metaphor. By the letters Gad means pursue ג the teaching/command ד. The troop, or soldier, pursues obeying the command. Coriander was the flavor of manna. Israel obeyed God when they gathered manna, but there is more to it. Manna is the second unleavened bread. Jesus taught that the bread was his body given/broken for us AND Jesus is the Word. As they gathered manna they painted a picture of pursuing THE WORD.
dag דג
fish As Adam named all the animals [3] he named them according to his own whim, based on whatever he observed in them. As he watched the fish darting to and fro he must have said to himself, that animal is commanded ד to pursue ג" in a reversal of troop gad גד.
gan גן
garden. The garden story of Genesis tells of the sin of man and how God pursued gimel ג him to restore him through the death of a lamb which represented the Son of Man on the cross final nun ן. The garden is known for being an idyllic place with two prominent trees, the place where man was formed from the earth, and the place of the fall of man.
However, the reversal of the letters from gan to nag reminds of the true metaphor of the garden.
nag נג
bright, shining, morning. When the letters of 'garden' gan גן are reversed, the morning brightness reverses the dark day of the garden and cross where the Lamb of God was slain. Jesus is called the bright morning star. [4]
Reverse nag back to garden gan and it places the emphasis of the garden story back where it belongs. The reversal of bright is dark. It was a dark day on the cross. The cross is symbolized by the slaying of the lamb in the garden. The garden should be remembered for the slaying of the lamb. The cross is central to ALL revelation.
