There are many symbols used in scripture. The purpose of symbols is teaching, not righteousness through works.

head = authority
ears/hearing = drawn to God without understanding
eyes/seeing = understanding
hands = works
shoulder = purpose of works
thigh = intention of your life
feet/walking = living
water = the word of God
water above = holiness in the word
water below = grace

Jesus washed the feet of his disciples.

1. He fulfilled the hidden prophecy that he would be the servant of servants. [1] The least of all the seed. [2] [3]
2. He demonstrated with the teaching aid, that the word of God cleanses our life. He told Peter that if he did not cleanse his life, Peter would have no part of him. [4]
3. Peter then said to wash all of him. Jesus explained that if your life was cleansed [5], that all of you was clean.

Your walk demonstrates:

Clean ears as you are drawn to God.
Clean eyes that you understand the teaching of love.
Clean hands as your works are done in faith
Clean shoulder as you intend to serve God with your works
Clean thigh as the purpose of your life is to glorify God

The washing of your life with the word of God is the teaching of the word. By teaching you renew your mind [6].

Ro 10:17 So then faith [cometh] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
