Formed created man spiritually and physically through distress
I never did a word study on "formed" and assumed I knew the meaning based on the Genesis context. It was interesting to see that the root word of yatsar (verb) means to bind, be distressed, be in distress, be cramped, be narrow, be scant, be in straits, make narrow, cause distress, beseige
(From natural perspective to form and shape some level of pressure needs to be applied to the substance/material being "formed" To form is to change from one state/shape to another) As stated, never thought too much about the word "formed" until you wrote your post.
I wonder if the "distress" in creating man reflect the following:
1) procreation - discomfort/pain in childbirth (Gen 3:16, also see 15)
2) pain Jesus endured to birth spiritual children (Is 53:1-7, John 3, Heb 12:2) Isa 53:10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.
3) pain Paul endured for the Church Gal 4:19 My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,
4) Christ in the form of a servant Phil 2:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: Isa 53:11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
