Manna twice as much
Twice as much manna is gathered before the Sabbath. Is this why they would have had a two-fold revelation of Christ? --yetlived
Part of original sin was the temptation to live instinctively, or like animals. If it looks good and smells good...why not?
As a consequence we have things to remind us that we are more than animals. Clothing separates us. The Sabbath and the Mezzuzah remind us to acknowledge God in time and space. Meal prayers, and not working on the Sabbath even for meals and the dietary laws help us acknowledge God in our sustenance. Marriage reminds us not to procreate like animals.
Gathering manna daily could become a ritual and instictive behavior over 40 years. The weekly miracle reminded them that it was God who provided and not a natural phenomenon of the desert.
That is the first layer of manna ;)
Jesus was the ante-tupe of manna according to Jesus (Joh 6:58). It represented his body which was given/broken for us, or 'the cross'. And " he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever."
In the first six days of the book of life, we "study to show yourself approved". We meditate on the word and wrestle to know him. Prior to the cross Jesus gave an extra measure of teaching, and in the day of rest "no man will say to his neighbor, Know the Lord..."
Jer 31:34 ... Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
Notice also that the tree of life gives eternal life. The manna and the tree .... and the cross and many more are types of the same ante-type.
