Original sin

"The serpent was more subtle than the other animals" this implies that the other animals were LESS subtle. They also must have been tempting Eve. Tempt her to do what? There was only one command.. They tempted her to eat the fruit.

BUt how? We aren't told. The only reasonable way. They ate the fruit and did not die. Wisdom Yes sir, as usual not enough time I don't believe sin is original Wisdom Wisdom Yes Eve watched them and wondered about it. She had the misteken idea that the fruit must be inherently bad somehow Some people today still have that idea.. Some that some chemical changed them somehow.. This is not so. It was a teaching aid, and only this. The first thing that God declared , after he created the heavens and the earth was : Let there be light... or Ï AM HOLY Wisdom Adam and Eve did not understand THAT A tree was selected by God , and was made Holy, seperate by his command. The command itself made it seperate. It represented the Holyness of God. The second tree represented his Love. They could eat freely from it. But when they vilated his Holiness, they could no longer receive his love This was the lesson taught with the visual aids. Wisdom Even saw the animals eat the fruit and not die.. Wisdom

She thinks.. with the help of the serpent: 1. God made the animals with instincts. 2. When they see something that looks good and smells good they eat it. 3. They just do what God created them to do. 4. Therefore they must glorify God when they do it 5. I am an animal too, I have breath and blood 6. trherefore I glorify God when I eat it too. This is the heart of the ionstinctive animal, putting oneself first, and choosing good and evil for oneself. The word "know"also means declare. The tree of the knowledge of good and evil.. she did not gain new knowledge.. she declared what was good and evil for herself She became subtil/naked like the serpent. Wisdom But she was deceived . This is the source of Pauls teachig that where there is no law, there is no judgemnt by the law. Adam received teh law, not Eve SO he can say that sin came into the world by Adam Eve represents the church. Wisdom Our "original condition" is like hers. We live by instinct. and as Paul says "We were alive Adam then is like Christ. With his eyes wide open, he chose to bear the sins of the woman the sins of her transgression in the flesh death did not come because of her ignorance, but because of his willful disobedience this is why children are "saved". Wisdom Ok When Adam chose to sin, death came into the world. This death is not a physical death.. he lived 900 years yet God said the day he ate, he would die. The spirit of God within him died. He was separated from God. So physical death is just a teaching aid, a shadow of real death Wisdom The seperation from God is the real death. This is why men are dead already, and need to be born again. Being cast from the Garden, was a real event. It was also a teaching aid. God created a system where you reap what you sow. Wisdom And he also gives you what you want. Rom 1:18 ff Adam wanted to be a god, God allowed him to be one, and even calls us gods. But we want to put ourselves first. and when we do so, we reap pain, suffering and death. The purpose of which, is to drive us back to God. The purpose of my sin, it to torment you so much taht you cry out for God. Wisdom God's anger is revealed from heaven against all the sin and evil of the people whose evil ways prevent the truth from being known. God punishes them, because what can be known about God is plain to them, for God himself made it plain. Ever since God created the world, his invisible qualities, both his eternal power and his divine nature, have been clearly seen; they are perceived in the things that God has made. So those people have no excuse at all! They know God, but they do not give him the honour that belongs to him, nor do they thank him. Instead, their thoughts have become complete nonsense, and their empty minds are filled with darkness. instead of worshipping the immortal God, they worship images made to look like mortal human beings or birds or animals or reptiles. Rom 1:18‭-‬21‭, ‬23 GNB It is the second schoolmaster. The first schoolmaster is the law, which leads us to Christ, It appeals to the mind. Suffering drives us to God, more generically, as we cry out in the midst of it saying Ït is not supposed to be this way. It's not fair! The unfairness and suffering is what we have sown by making ourselves first. Wisdom Very true It's not fair that our neighbor should be hungry, But we create it when we do nto put him first Wisdom Suffering is not punishment. It is merely the evil/calamity as a result of us getting what we want each man is punished by God for his own sin. So "universal sin" is the instictive animal nature. We put ourselves first. We choose what is good and evil for ourselves, without thinking about it. Wisdom We are not culpable for it, until we become conscious of it through the law But even before that, we suffer.. as a result of it, and for the purpose of preparing us for Christ. Jesus had the same instinctive flesh... yet did not sin He was as Adam was before the fall.
