The Psalm is written in three four-line stanzas. 'Selah' marks the ends of the first two. As with anything we find in three's; we expect to see hints of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost in them.

The first stanza mentions the house 'bayith' בית. The house is also the household. It is the nature of the Father to bring forth a household.

Jesus was the man of sorrows (Baca) and the living water.

In the third, the oil and gifts are associated with the Spirit.

Hidden in the bland introduction is a picture of Christ. Musician נצח is also the word for perpetual and blood. Since 'Life is in the blood' could this be a veiled reference to eternal life? Gittith means winetrough a common symbol of tribulation. Korah means bald, and is the same reference to Elisha who was taunted for not having authority, the leper who shaves his head, and the departure of the Father from the Son on the cross.

The tone of the verse is that of comfort and friendliness. The soul that is crying out does not desire the physical courts of the Lord, but for his heart to be the dwelling place of the Lord. He desired to be the living tabernacle of God, as we in the church now are. The sparrow (depart early) and the swallow (set free) represent those who die early and those who are set free from sin who find a dwelling place, a rest in the altars.

How can the birds find rest if there is a fire burning in the altars? Fire is the symbol of the Spirit in whom we find rest.

It's prophetic poetry fulfilled in Christ.

Ps 84

Ps 84:1 ¶ « To the chief Musician upon Gittith, A Psalm for the sons of Korah. » How amiable [are] thy tabernacles, O LORD of hosts!

Ps 84:2 My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God.

Ps 84:3 Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, [even] thine altars, O LORD of hosts, my King, and my God.

Ps 84:4 Blessed [are] they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. Selah.

Ps 84:5 Blessed [is] the man whose strength [is] in thee; in whose heart [are] the ways [of them].

Ps 84:6 [Who] passing through the valley of Baca make it a well; the rain also filleth the pools.

Ps 84:7 They go from strength to strength, [every one of them] in Zion appeareth before God.

Ps 84:8 ¶ O LORD God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob. Selah.

Ps 84:9 Behold, O God our shield, and look upon the face of thine anointed.

Ps 84:10 For a day in thy courts [is] better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

Ps 84:11 For the LORD God [is] a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good [thing] will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

Ps 84:12 O LORD of hosts, blessed [is] the man that trusteth in thee.
