WLC - Question 17 How did God create man?

WLC - Answer 17 After God had made all other creatures, he created man male and female; formed the body of the man of the dust of the ground, and the woman of the rib of the man, endued them with living, reasonable, and immortal souls; made them after his own image, in knowledge, righteousness, and holiness; having the law of God written in their hearts, and power to fulfil it, and dominion over the creatures; yet subject to fall.

WLC - Answer 17 (Bob) The man was formed from the dust of the earth, and the woman from his side, as an allegory of the church being taken from the side of Christ in his death. The man symbolized Christ as the express image of God, and the woman represented the church being made in the likeness of the man. Together they are the 'image and likeness' of God. They were ignorant and in need of learning of the Holiness of God, yet were covered by his love throughout the learning process.
