א ↬ Holiness

Before creation, there was only God; represented by teh 'yod' י. There was no place outside of God to create the universe [1] So he created a void within himself; also represented by the 'yod' י , and then spoke into it; represented by the 'vav' ו .

The aleph represents a division ו between God י and his creation י. This division represents the first expression of his holiness; he is separate, he is different.
