Dalet ד not rosh ר
The dalet represents the spoken word of God. The upper horizontal represent heavenly things to be communicated. The right vav represents the act of communicating. The right angle means that it is a communication, not a revelation. Ordinarily we make little distinction between the two. But the a rounded corner would suggest that there were not only words communicated, but personality, as in the rosh. It can be a command, or a teaching.
Hei ה
The hei is a dalet with a short vav returning on the left side. The vav starts on the lower or earthly end. The word which was spoken was heard but not fully understaood. Hearing is a metaphor of the same idea. The sheep hear the shepherds voice but do not understand his words. [1] [2]
Chet ח
The chet looks like a hei, but the vav extends all the way to the heavenly horizontal. The response of the one who heard the spoken word (the dalet) is now in knowing. Seeing is a metaphor for understanding. [3]
