How does this differ from other Bible studies? You decide.
Consider the parable of the mustard seed. (Mt 13:31-32; Mr 4:30-32; Lk 13:18-19)
We are told that the mustard seed represents the kingdom, and that it grows until it becomes large. If we have small faith we can do miracles that no one seems to be able to do. Then we're not sure if birds are gentiles or nations or demons, and we wonder why he said it was the smallest seed, when everyone knows it isn't. It is no wonder people find it hard to believe the Bible.
But what if it is riddle (or metaphor), and the solutions to the riddles are found in the Bible? Then Jesus is the woman's seed who has a bruised heel. (Ge 3:15) Coincidentally, the Greek word for 'mustard' sounds like Hebrew words for 'pierced' and 'bruised by anger'. Jesus was the 'least' of the seed because he served us all through his death on the cross.
God gave grass to the cattle to eat, but gave herbs to man to eat (Ge 3:18). The greatest thing that men can eat is the body of Christ. (Mr 14:22) He is the great herb. Eating is a metaphor for learning, so he is the great teacher.
The tree is the cross (Ac 5:30), and those who live in the Spirit (the birds of the air) rest in the cross.
He told the woman at Sychar that, though they worshiped on the mountain, they would worship in spirit and truth. (Joh 4:5ff) The Hebrew word for waters has metaphors in the letters for 'father' and 'son'. The Father is spirit, (Joh 4:24) the Son is truth (Joh 14:6), so moving the mountain to the sea, is the same teaching as that at Sychar.
In summary, the kingdom is like Christ, who though God, became incarnate, humbling himself, and serving us all, even wrestling at Gethsemane with his own flesh (bruised heel). He then became the great teacher and died on the cross for us. Those who live in the spirit rest in the cross, and worship in spirit and truth.
Jesus hid the riddle in the parable as an example of how the Old Testament scriptures are written. He did it to fulfill the scripture. (Ps 78:2)
