The book of the Father
From Sensus Plenior
Genesis has four primary divisions by the four voices of God.
- Prophet: Ge 1:1-2:5 - This division is like a Table of Contents to the Book of Life. Each day is a picture of Christ which is revealed in one of seven portions of the Bible. As such, the prophet tells what is to come. It ends with the eternal rest found in Christ.
- Priest: Ge 2:6-5:32 - The highlight of this portion is the sacrifice of the lamb to cover the sin of Adam. It ends with the genealogy showing fruitfulness.
- Judge: Ge 6:1-11:28 - One cannot mention Noah without thinking of the judgement of God. But judgement is not God's main focus and this section also ends with genealogies showing fruitfulness.
- King: Ge 11:29-50:26 - The king is concerned with earthly affairs and indeed the focus of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is the promise God made to Abraham for land. Even Joseph, who is not one of the fathers, but is a son, becomes the king of kings as he rules over all the nations.
