Ge 15:12 ¶ And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him.

1. Look for the cross.

Sleep = death

2. Clarify riddles, puns , symbols, etc

sun = holiness

darkness (covering) = grace

3. Notarikon

horror א(ימ)ה = yearning אה the creation י of the promise of the father מ. The promise of the father is for the marriage... the bride to be given to the son.

4. Reword it to make it familiar

And when the expression of holiness was waning, he died, and had a yearning for the bride.

5. Interpretation

The word for marriage also means doctrine; those who are the bride are those who are taught by Christ. Abram asked for a sign to know that the promise will come true. This segue from the promise to the fulfillment indicates that he was given a yearning for the teaching of God.

As for the feast laid before God. It is the marriage banquet of the Lamb.

Eating = learning

banquet = lots of stuff to eat

The marriage banquet of the Lamb is the explosion of doctrine that happened after the cross as the disciples were reminded of all the things Jesus had taught, but they had forgotten.
