You did not help me understand what you are asking for.
What kind of an answer do you wish? Can you give me more specific questions? Thanks
Woman from the rib Submitted by PigSP on Mon, 2015-04-20 21:36.
2Ti 3:16 All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
Doctrine - the prophets spoke of Christ. Reproof - the judge confronts sin Correction - the priest makes things right instruction in righteousness - the king rules the flesh.
Looking at Ge 2:21 through the four voices of God.
Ge 2:21 ¶ And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
The king speaks in the literal voice. God caused the literal Adam to sleep and he removed a rib and made his bride. The application is that Christ is the head of the church in the flesh, and therefor we must be subject to Christ in the flesh. This refutes those who say that the flesh will burn and therefore we can continue in sin.
The spiritual layer has three parts, but first look at the hidden message:
v. 21 And God caused the man to die, and he died; and he married a certain limping side (bruised heel, withered thigh, Gethsemane) and delivered mankind.
The following words have more than one dictionary meaning and create the possibility for double entendre:
sleep = death took = married one = certain rib = limping side closed up = delivered flesh = mankind
Judge confronts sin Christ died before he married. While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Prophet speaks of the literal Jesus God caused Jesus to die, and his flesh married the church and he delivered mankind. There is only one man and one bride, therefore there is no salvation through any other.
Priest speaks of eternal things God caused the Son to be subject to death through incarnation, and he died. His flesh brought his bride into eternity. We can only marvel at the eternal things.
I have been sharing the voice of the prophet which speaks of Christ. There are still two other layers as demonstrated here. This is very close to what Augustine was describing. I have been unable to find anywhere where he produced anything like this. The spiritual layer is not free-for-all since the meaning is derived from the second meaning of the words themselves.
Sin vs. transgression Submitted by PigSP on Mon, 2015-04-20 21:53.
The Catholic church has correctly identified two types of sin.
One sin is the instinctive sin caused by the flesh. The other is rebellion.
The law attempts to codify them so that the gist is understood and so that specific acts could be punished in a form of object lesson. Jesus clarifies the difference by examining the intent of the heart.
The same act which is of the flesh becomes rebellion when it ceases to be instinctive and becomes intentional.
Adam sinned and brought death into the world. Eve was deceived and transgressed.
Hebrew typology is different than Greek typology. Greek typology is based on the character of the type in relationship to the ante-type. Hebrew typology is based on patterns and word play.
Adam is a Hebrew type of Christ because he chose to sin to be with his wife. Christ chose to become sin to be with his bride. The statement "The woman you gave me..." Can be heard from the mouth of Christ. Father, the bride you gave me gave me her sin."
And from Eve, the words of the church "The serpent tricked me into sin".
Men pregnant Submitted by PigSP on Mon, 2015-04-20 21:54.
Paul says that Eve was deceived, and provides the clue to Jeremiah's prophecy.
The female becomes a metaphor for not seeing clearly. Similar to the blind. The male then represents seeing clearly.
I've said that donkeys represent prophets. As Jesus road into Jerusalem on a colt led by an old female donkey, it represents that Jesus was preceded by the old prophets who did not see clearly, and the colt that he was contemporaneous with John, who knew exactly who he was.
So examining the riddles. Women must become men = those who don't understand must be taught so they do. Men must become virgins = Those who understand become the bride of Christ. Men will become pregnant = The understanding bride of Christ will be fruitful and multiply.
This has nothing to do with gender. It uses gender as a metaphor.
No male or female in Christ - marriage Submitted by PigSP on Mon, 2015-04-20 21:59.
If there is no male or female in Christ, then when Paul is talking about male and female, he is not talking about gender.
This is a huge understanding. So why does he use gender when he speaks? Because he is using the metaphor.
The Greek is not required to have the same meaning everywhere, so he is confused. When Paul speaks of marriage, he specifically says he is not speaking of marriage. Why then do the Greeks insist on speaking of marriage?
Paul spoke of Christ.
inerrancy and infallibilty Submitted by PigSP on Tue, 2015-04-21 07:20.
Help me find these terms in the Bible, or any scripture that come close to saying what these terms mean.
They appear to be inventions similar to Eve saying she could not touch the tree, rather than she could not eat it. I am not familiar with their usage prior to the 19th century.
2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
In what way has the use of the terms done anything but bring more schism?
When to read the scripture symbolically? Submitted by PigSP on Tue, 2015-04-21 07:41.
>>So a great deal of the misunderstanding of the book is because people do not know when and how to interpret either literally or symbolically.
So how do we know when to read it one way or the other? What are the hermeneutic rules?
For the Hebrew hermeneutic, everything speaks of Christ, therefor everything is read symbolically. There is no human subjective choice when to read it symbolically or not. It is presumed the author observed the historical people and events and God guided him to create pictures of Christ through the historical record. The purpose is to show the Father through the Son. It's mechanisms are in 'divers manners'.
