Is it a mere curiosity that the first word of the Bible starts with the second letter of the alefbet? When the rabbis ask the question they resolve it by personifying the letters and sayin the alef was more humble than the other letter.  The alef, by itself says the same thing as the first sentence of the Bible. The silent alef is two yuds separated by a vav. It is two creations separated by the vav. See the vav in the second instance of [[ואת]]. The primary meaning of the first sentence is expressed by the first letter, which is a vowel, and which is absent at the beginning of 'in the beginning'.

The silent alef suggests God created by the Spirit (vowel) when there was no one there to observe it. 'In the beginning' starts with the [[ב]] which is 'a revelation to man'. Though man was not there when God created, the first thing God said to man had the purpose of revealing God to man. The [[א]] represents the creation of the heavens and the earth in silence before there was a man to receive the revelation of God.
