1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. | The chapter 'The Big bang' discusses how the first written revelation from God to man explodes from the metaphor of the א aleph. Ge 1:1 says the same thing as the first word of Ge 1:1 and the same as the invisible aleph.

The את ath used with 'heavens' and 'earth' suggests that a second duality was also created. This verse is an introduction to Genesis 1. It stand alone from the enumeration of days. It repeats the declaration of the invisble aleph and the first word of the verse in declaring that God is the creator. It has a bookend in Ge 2:4-5. By this verse alone with it's repeating declaration that God is the creator, there can be nop doubt that the primary purpose of creation is to make the invisible God known. |
The creation story is told repeatedly and much doctrine is taught in this first verse of the Bible.
- 1. The aleph Before the beginning God was alone with his unspeakable name יוי, which hints at his triune nature. The Father and Son are one, with the Spirit both separating and joining them. Then he spoke, and created the heavens and the earth. He created by separating his creation from himself. This separation is a symbol of his holiness. The Spirit hovered between heaven and earth stirring up judgement; this was war between heaven and earth. The firmament/Son stilled the confict, and this was peace through love.
- 2. The first word by the letters God did not simply create and then walk away. He revealed himself to man. The Word spoke and created the heavens and the earth, The Word came to men. The Word was the Son. The Word came to earth and returned, but returned with an increase; the bride. The Spirit enlived the bride in the Son to enable her to go with the Son. She was purified and made Holy. The first thought of creation, and the creation itself, were brought to completion as the new life sprang from the Word and spontaneously returned to heaven.
- 3. The first word by formation The Son was totally devoted to the Father and under his authority. He spoke the Father's will into existence in six riddles. He made a covenant with man before man was formed. He set an appointed time. And his bride loved him. His work was complete.
The sentence
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The Word was with God, The Word was the Son, and the Word was God. God was separated from his people by ignorance. He was the Light, Life and Bread. His creation was finished by the Son of Man. His creation included heaven and earth, spirit and flesh, and was filled with holiness and Love. He testified in heaven as the Father, Word and Spirit, and on earth as Spirit, Water/Revelation and Blood/Cross his testimony was one.
